Affect of the Khartoum Conference of 1967

Nadene Goldfoot
Bedouins riding through Palestine in 1867 as Mark Twain saw them on his visit to the
Holy Land and Egypt.  The 1st aliyah of Jews from Russia came in 1880.
The Arabs see the creation of Israel in a different light than what is the reality of the situation.  In their Khartoum Conference in Sudan after the 1967 War in which all the Arab countries attacked Israel together, yet Israel won against all their aggression, this is what they decided as their 3rd decision.
  1. The Arab Heads of State have agreed to unite their political efforts at the international and diplomatic level to eliminate the effects of the aggression and to ensure the withdrawal of the aggressive Israeli forces from the Arab lands which have been occupied since the aggression of 5 June. This will be done within the framework of the main principles by which the Arab States abide, namely, no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiations with it, and insistence on the rights of the Palestinian people in their own country.

Palestine was never the Arab's country that were living in there.  They were just squatting there.  They had no country.  If anyone "had" it, it was the Ottoman Empire who had it at that time.  It was considered as the backwaters, a place no one wanted, full of swamps and weeds or deserts.  Arabs rode through it getting to a better place on their camels and horses.

In this Khartoum Conference, the Arabs turned the tables, calling the Israelis the aggressors.  Yet it was the Arabs who had attacked the Jews in 1947 to 1949, 56, and 67.  They were calling "UNCLE" in trying to win against  Jews yet losing.  Israel had won back land that was earmarked for Israel in the first place that had gone instead to Jordan.
A few Arabs were landowners who couldn't afford the taxes they were charged and only too happy to sell out and move to Beirut or Paris.  Jews paid highly for land only a Jew could love.  It was their father's land, and they gladly paid for it.

Mark Twain wrote that "Palestine is only from forty to sixty miles wide.  The State of Missouri could be split into 3 Palestines, and there would then be enough material left for part of another-possibly a whole one.:
